A job you love to talk about | Coco Simone Hordijk
We spoke with Coco Simone Hordijk, Senior Marketing Specialist at SThree. She shares all about her career within our organization and what the future holds for her.
Can you tell us a bit about your journey within SThree?
I started my adventure within SThree as an intern in the HR department, and after graduating, I immediately started working as a Junior Talent Acquisition Consultant. A year later, I decided to spread my wings and travelled for a while. When I returned to the office, it immediately felt right to me. I realised how committed my colleagues are and how much I feel at home here. At the same time, I also realised that my role at the time lacked a creative side. I discussed this with my manager, who was very accommodating from the start. Together, we created a position for me in which I could start working as an all-round marketer for Huxley, one of our brands. I still really appreciate this opportunity. This is how it all started for me in marketing, and I have been very happy with my role as Senior Marketing Specialist within our region (the Netherlands, Spain, the Middle East and Asia) for two years now.
What makes SThree a great place to work for you?
Besides looking at what I need to achieve my full potential, there is considerable investment in the well-being of colleagues. During lunch break, for example, I get the opportunity to go for a nice workout! I prefer to go rocycling to clear my head. I also greatly value the flexibility SThree offers in hybrid working. Because we have several offices spread across the Netherlands, I can work from different cities. This provides variety and new inspiration.
What is the most unforgettable thing you have experienced within SThree?
That is, without a doubt, the incentive trip to Lapland! We had a really nice trip with an awesome group of people. Besides the once-in-a-lifetime activities, such as cruising on a snowmobile and sledging with Huskies, it created a bond amongst each other. We had a great time together and laughed until the early hours.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learnt?
Within SThree, I learned to be assertive. We work in a fast-moving market, so you need to know where you want to go. It is valuable to share your vision and indicate what you need. In addition, I have also learned not to want to move too fast and to reflect on what I have achieved.
What opportunities do you see for yourself in the future?
I hope to expand my role in the region in the near future by organising more events in Spain and Dubai. I am also now focusing on developing my leadership skills and looking forward to supervising an intern for the second time. In short, there is still enormous room for growth, so I won't get bored!
